ASIAN WEBSITE CONDUCTS LANDMARK SURVEY OF GAYS AND
LESBIANS IN ASIA
December 12, 2001, Singapore - Fridae.com, Asia's
largest Gay+Lesbian website, has launched the first
ever survey of the online GLBT community in Asia.
Fridae's partnership with Strategic Intelligence, an
independent Asian business research company (www.strategici.com)
on this groundbreaking survey hopes to provide the scientific
and objective fodder for much discussion and discourse.
Results from this landmark survey will also be used
to design a much larger and more comprehensive study
which organisers hope will set benchmarks for comparison
to the rest of the world.
Dr Stuart Koe, Chief Operating Officer of the 9-month
old portal says: "The gay and lesbian community in Asia
has never ever been polled in this manner, primarily
because they have been hard to identify (as a group),
and harder to reach. To now be able to at least give
some shape and form to this large and varied group of
people would go a long way to help the cause of both
social and political activists."
In order for the survey to have the significance it
can have, he urges every gay and lesbian individual
in Asia-Pacific region to support and participate in
this groundbreaking study.
"The gay and lesbian community in Asia will finally
be able to stand up and be counted. Every little counts.
We are no longer hiding under rocks in ignominy."
